Copying of Video to DVD
Just as slides and negatives deteriorate over time so do video images. Videos are magnetic images that will slowly fade.
Because of the way they are stored on tape there is also a certain amount of interaction between each layer on the tape. This causes the magnetic information on one wind to interfere with the layer next to it usually leading to fuzzy edges on images. The tape itself is also subject to physical deterioration, particularly if it has been lying for a long time without being wound through a camera or tape deck. The layers of the tape tend to meld together making it liable to break. For this reason tape manufacturers recommend you wind and rewind tapes through a camera or tape deck every six months at least. For many people this is not an option as few now have the equipment to view video tape be it camera or VHS. For these reason it is important to copy your video memories to a medium that you can access and be able to preserve for the future.
We convert VHS-C, Hi8, Video 8, Digital 8, MiniDV, Camera Hard Drive and Mini DVD to DVD as well as video clips on your Digital Camera card.
While we can compress the images so that you can get several hours on a DVD we do not recommend this option but prefer to copy a maximum of two hours per DVD. This ensures the original quality is not compromised. The finished disk includes a thumbnail sheet of random images from your video to assist in easy identification.
